SMS Update September 17th

Greetings,


What a great week at Smith Middle School. Over 250 parents attended Mini School Open House. Thank you for a great turnout. Also, we had several eighth grade parents here last night for Naviance orientation.


Progress reports are coming home today. Please ask your child for the report. The attendance record did not post correctly on the progress report. Please refer to Skyward for accurate an attendance record. We do need those progress reports signed and returned to school tomorrow. If you have any questions or concerns, please address those with your child’s teacher. The last day of the first six-weeks grading period is October 2nd.


Here is what’s coming up at SMS.


Thursday (9/17) Volleyball vs Wheat Middle School- All matches are AWAY at Wheat Middle School. Matches will begin at 4:00 p.m-C teams are first, followed by 7th A and 8th B, and then 7th B and 8th A.

Friday (9/18) Cross Country run in the Jr. Buzz Run at Cleburne High School. Events start at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday (9/19) Volleyball Tournaments- “A” Tournament in Joshua and “B”  Tournament in Kennedale.


Tuesday (9/22) Football vs Midlothian Frank Seale- Eighth grade is HOME at SMS (3 games starting at 4:30) and seventh grade is AWAY at  MISD Stad.1800 South 14th St., Midlothian (3 games starting at 4:00)

Dedication Responsibility Education Attitude Motivation

Our goal in implementing this program is to assist and encourage our students to take responsibility for their learning, overall education and work ethic. In order to take part in this program the students must meet the following criteria each six weeks:

                   

  1. Must have an overall average of 90% or better. (All classes will be       added up and then divided equally to determine their overall average. excluding conduct)
  2. Cannot have more than two excused absences. (It is of the utmost importance that students turn a note into the attendance clerk as soon as they return to school.)
  3. Must have a 100%  in conduct.
  4. Cannot have any unexcused absences!
  5. NO TARDIES (only exception is 1st period)

Que buena semana tuvimos en la Escuela de Smith.  Mas de 250 padres asistieron  a la Mini School.  Gracias por su presencia.  También por algunos padres de Octavo que asistieron anoche a la orientación al programa de Naviance.


Reporte de Progreso fueron distribuidos hoy para llevar a casa.  Favor de pedirselos a su hijo/a.  La asistencia no está incluida correctamente en el reporte. Para más seguridad vaya a Skyward para informarse de la asistencia.  Necesitamos el reporte firmado y traerlo mañana.  Si usted tiene alguna pregunta o preocupación, mandar una notita a la maestra/o encargado de su hijo/a.  El ultimo dia de sus primeras seis semanas calificadas serán el 2 de octubre.
