Dear Smith Families,

There is so much to celebrate this week at Smith MS!  On Thursday, Smith Band students participated in the first part of the TMEA Region Band Auditions.  There were approximately 600 students on percussion, representing 29 schools.  Seven of the 21 students representing SMS advanced to the second part of the audition scheduled for Saturday.  We can’t wait to hear the final results!

Sixth Graders met the 97% attendance goal for the second six weeks of school and earned free dress for today.  Keep it up and remember, knowledge is power and your knowledge grows each and every day you walk through the doors!

Today is the day the SMS Student Council travelled to Ingleside. Our campus has raised over $500 for our friends at Taylor Junior High.  Mrs. Waugh, TJH Principal, says the students have been excited for the dance for the last few weeks and are thrilled to meet us!

Report cards for the second six weeks went home on Thursday.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Smith Staff.  We are here to help any way we can for your student’s success.

Our annual Veteran’s Day Celebration is Monday, November 13th at 3:00 pm.  We would love to have you join us for the celebration.  State Representative DeWayne Burns will be our guest speaker and a reception will be held for veterans afterwards.  Students are asked to wear patriotic colors for the celebration: 6th graders wear red, 7th graders wear white and 8th graders wear blue.  Shirts do not have to be polo/button up style if wearing patriotic colors.

We are ready to see our Jackets and Lady Jackets take the court next week.  Our first game is scheduled for this Thursday with the boys playing at Smith and the girls playing at Hughes Middle School in Burleson.  Let’s go Jackets!!!
